FAQs
1. It is important to note that some ingredients serve as smudging properties. Smudging is the practice in which you burn the sticks or herbs and cleanse the space with the smoke off negative energy. Different smudge sticks or herbs have different uses when smudging. One good example of this are the cinnamon sticks that comes with Xanthus. Alternatively, you could always boil your cinnamon sticks when making chai!
2. Candle wax is going to be HOT. Do not attempt to pick up the husk or attempt to blow harshly in case it splatters all over you.
3. Always extinguish the flame before sleeping, napping, or any other activity that will require you to be away from the candle for long hours -- this will also help prolong your candle's longevity and burn time!
4. Always place candles away from flammable or hazardous materials for your own safety as well as the safety of others.
5.If you have purchased our husk candles, please burn them on levelled surfaces, our husks are like children's butts -- they never sit still.
6. Our candle wicks are designed to self trim, however, please trim your wicks before every burn to about 1/4 to 1/8 of an inch. Trimming the wicks will keep the candle burning without any black soot from the wick and ensure even burning, giving your candle a longer burn time.
Here is what happens when you do not trim the wicks properly. When a wick gets too long, it cannot draw wax all the way up to the top of the wick. Therefore, the wick itself will start to burn.
7. It is recommended that you burn your candle for no more than 1-2 hours each time. This should be sufficient time to perfume your room with our pure 100% essential oils, while preserving the life of your candle and ensuring that you are able to keep an eye out for any potential hazards and dangers.
8. The first “burn” will set the stage for the life of your candle, and will ensure that the rest of your candle will burn evenly, preventing the “tunneling effect” (where the edges of a candle never burn, and you only get a “tunnel” down the middle).
9. We at Roux firmly believe in recycling and sustainability, and encourage all our customers to re-use our husks or steins (once the soy wax has been used up to the point where it should be discontinued) as beautiful trinket holders around the house, save 3 husks and email us to collect them for a special discount code for your next purchase. -- the crystals that were embedded can be kept to continue to provide you with its benefits.
